The bucolic atmospheres that introduce Disciple, the opening piece of the Swedish debut album “Ambassadors of the Sun”, soon give way to a crescendo of emotions that distinguishes the entire work. And the fielding, to strike from the first listening, in addition to the coherence and personality with which such a significant number of influences are assembled. It seems simplistic to simply classify the genre proposed by the Scandinavian quartet as prog, since beyond a decidedly accentuated vocation to experiment we find very specific elements that recall “doom”, “stoner” and classic vintage rock, amalgamated according to an absolutely original and noteworthy perspective. A skilful game of contrasts characterizes the work in its entirety, which sees the presence of moments centered on a serious and reflective gait (Snail) alongside explosions of rough power (From the Shadows). It ranks far beyond any wraparound little by little, Orbiting A Dead Star, but once you fall into its devious spirals it becomes truly difficult to do without it.
